About Erin
Erin M’Larkey is the founder of Fig & Fennel Nutrition, a virtual nutrition practice providing counselling services across Lambton County and Ontario.
Growing up in Lambton County, Erin’s connection to food began early. Raised in a home that valued fresh, local ingredients, many weekends were spent exploring the farmers’ market, neighbourhood delis, and favourite local bakeries. Those early experiences sparked a lasting curiosity about food, health, and the role nutrition plays in everyday life.
Erin went on to study Applied Human Nutrition at the University of Guelph, where she discovered that her passion for food and interest in teaching could come together in a career as a Registered Dietitian. After completing her dietetic internship, she spent nearly a decade working as a clinical dietitian at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, supporting individuals with complex health conditions. She later completed a Master of Public Health at the University of Toronto, with a collaborative specialization in Women’s Health.
While Erin enjoyed living and working in Toronto, there was always a strong pull back to Lambton County. Returning home allowed her to reconnect with her community and focus on supporting people in developing practical, sustainable approaches to nutrition.
Why Fig & Fennel?
Fig & Fennel Nutrition reflects Erin’s philosophy toward food and health. The name comes from two foods she genuinely loves and the meanings they carry.
Figs are one of the oldest cultivated foods and symbolize nourishment, community, and the joy of good food. They also happen to be the inspiration behind the name of her cat, Fig.
Fennel has long been associated with digestion, longevity, and renewal. It is a flavour Erin enjoys regularly in her evening tea and serves as a reminder that small, intentional choices can support long-term health.
Together, Fig & Fennel represents a balanced approach to nutrition counselling. One that celebrates the pleasure of eating while supporting people in building sustainable habits that support their wellbeing.
Outside of Work
As a self-identified kitchen witch, Erin can often be found puttering around her garden, cooking for her family & friends, showing off photos of her cat, catching sunsets from her paddle board, or training for her next trail run.
